| Of course... That's why you have to learn our alphabet- it's just not the same...
I gave it some thought and it's quite difficult- let's see whether I can make it simple...
The Serbian alphabet doesn't have double sounds- one letter one sound!
The letter a- your phonetic transcription you already know.
Serbian: It's like when you go to the dentist and you have to say aaaaaaaaaa... Well- it's only the first a without following sounds...
The letter b / bi /
Serbian: without / i /... Just b...
Let's say this is the beginning... I don't really know whether you understand me?!
Shall I try finding another way to explain you this- or is this kind of working? | |

| Nothing... Now... Let's get back to 'brat' thing... So... You'd read this as / braet /... But remember what I told you about our a... The Serbian transcription of it is / brat /. That's how we come to another point- Read like it's written. Another difficulty in this word would be the letter r... Your r is soft- our is not... It's like rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... The tongue position is also different. When you say r you have to place your tongue just behind your teeth. Now... Try saying this word multiple times... Still wanna learn? | |
